Privacy policy

Last updated October 28, 2026

The short version

  • MassHSHockey publishes Massachusetts high school hockey schedules, scores, standings, rosters, statistics and history.
  • Fans do not need an account, and we do not sell personal information or use it for advertising.
  • A player, a parent or guardian, or a school can ask us to correct or remove a player's details at any time, and we act within 10 business days. Use the privacy request form.

Who we are

MassHSHockey (masshshockey.com) is a website about Massachusetts high school hockey. In this policy “we” means the people who run it. You can reach us about anything in this policy through the privacy request form.

What we publish about teams and players

The site is a public record of the game. For teams and games we publish schedules, results, standings, rinks, team colours and logos, coaches' names, and history going back to 1942-43.

For players we may publish:

  • name, jersey number, position, graduation year (shown as class, such as “Junior”), and the team and season;
  • hometown, height and weight, when the team lists them;
  • game and season statistics, such as goals, assists and goalie numbers;
  • photos taken at public games, such as state finals.

This comes from team rosters and score sheets supplied by schools and coaches, from published results, and from the archives of the earlier MassHSHockey sites. We do not publish players' birth dates, addresses, phone numbers or email addresses.

Player pages and scoring leaders are kept out of search engine results (they are marked “noindex”), so a player's name on this site does not lead searchers here.

A head coach's email address and phone number appear only if that coach chooses to show them, and the coach can hide them again at any time.

Corrections and removals

If something about a player is wrong, or a player, a parent or guardian, or a school would rather a player's details were not on the site, use the privacy request form. Tell us the player, the team and season, and what you would like changed. We act within 10 business days and may contact you first if we need to confirm the request.

When we remove a player we take away their name and details from rosters, statistics and player pages, and any photo you point us to. Game scores and team results stay, because they are the record of games between teams.

To fix a score, date, time or rink, use the “Report a correction” link at the bottom of any page.

What we collect from visitors

  • Your choices on this device. “My teams” and the Boys/Girls choice are kept in your own browser (local storage). They are not sent to us, and clearing your browser's site data removes them.
  • Visit statistics. We may use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. It is set up with advertising features and Google signals turned off and ad storage refused, and player pages are counted as “Player page” without the player's name. When it is on, Google Analytics sets cookies (such as “_ga”) in your browser and Google processes the visit data under its own policies. We also count how often an ad is shown or clicked, without telling the advertiser who you are.
  • Technical data. Like any website, our hosting provider handles your internet address and basic browser information to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse.
  • Messages you send. The correction form stores your message, the page it was about, and the email or phone you choose to give (optional). We use your contact details only to ask about your message. To stop spam we keep a scrambled fingerprint of your internet address that cannot be turned back into it.

Staff, coach and athletic director accounts

People who enter schedules and scores have accounts with their name, email address, role and school or team. Signing in sets a cookie that keeps you signed in. We keep a record of the changes each account makes, so mistakes can be traced and undone. Sign-in attempts are limited using a scrambled form of the internet address, kept for one day.

Advertising

Ads on the site are sold directly or promote MassHSHockey and its partners. We do not use ad networks, and ads are not aimed at individuals: an ad is matched only to the kind of page, boys or girls hockey, and the schools on the page. An ad's link takes you to the advertiser's own website, which has its own privacy policy.

Other services

Some pages link to or show content from other services, such as HNIB News stories, our Instagram account and Google Maps directions. When you follow those links, or when Instagram pictures load, those services receive your visit under their own policies.

Sharing

We do not sell personal information, share it for advertising, or hand out roster lists. We use service providers to run the site (hosting, the database and, when switched on, Google Analytics), and they handle data only to provide that service. We may disclose information if the law requires it.

Children

The site is for a general audience. Fans do not create accounts, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 through the site. Information about players comes from their teams and schools, as described above, and can be removed on request.

How long we keep things

Game and season records are kept as part of the history of the sport, unless a player's details are removed on request. Correction messages are kept while we check and act on them. Sign-in limits are kept for a day. Staff and coach accounts are kept until they are closed.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy we update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use personal information in a significant way, we will say so on the site.
